Non-human PC Races

Elf: Elves are an ancient race now in decline. Because elves are so attuned to the land, the place where an elf is born determines what kind of elf one will be. Elves must have deftness of fair or better and take 1 of the sub-types listed below:

Mortal Elf : This is the result an unfortunate union between an elf and a human. Shunned from both societies, the character must take the fault (half breed). Elves of this type normally have pale skin.

Wood Elf: Elves born in the forest are wood elves. Characters of this type must take the gift (tree friend), which allows the climbing of trees without fail and reaction bonuses to certain tree creatures. Elves of this type normally have green skin.

Mountain Elf: Those born in the mountains become mountain elves. Characters of this type must take the gift (stone friend), which allows the climbing of rocks (but not smooth walls) without fail and mountain elves take no movement penalty for movement in rocky terrain. Elves of this type normally have grey skin.

Desert Elf: Those born in the desert become desert elves. Characters of this type must take the gift (desert friend), which gives the ability to tolerate high temperatures, drink little water and take no movement penalty for movement in sandy terrain. Elves of this type normally have yellow skin.

Dark Elf: Those born in caves or other dark places become dark elves. Not all dark elves are evil but many are. Characters of this type must take the gift (night vision), which negates up to 2 points of darkness penalty and the fault (distrusted). Elves of this type normally have black skin.

Ice Elf: Those born during blizzards or on snowy mountain tops may become ice elves. Characters of this type must take the gift (ice friend), which gives the ability to tolerate low temperatures and take no movement penalty for movement in icy/snowy terrain. Elves of this type normally have white skin.

Sea Elf: Those born at sea become sea elves. Characters of this type must take the gift (water friend), which gives the ability to breathe under water and take no movement penalty for movement in water. Elves of this type normally have blue skin.

Cursed Elf: Those unfortunate enough to be born in the cursed lands become cursed elves. Cursed elves must take the fault (enemy: unseen one). The unseen one is an ultra-powerful invisible beast that hunts down all cursed elves. Elves of this type normally have purple skin.

Dwarf: The favored of Wulgar seldom venture from their kingdom of Moraz without good reason. Dwarves must have a craft of fair or better and take the gift (night vision), which negates up to 2 points of darkness penalty.

Gnome: Members of this diminutive race love animals and nature. Gnomes must take the fault (scale -1) and the gift (speak to animals) which allows communication with normal land animals (no monsters).
Players should also consider taking animal/nature type abilities and specialties.
